Brigueil – 2021- Essayons de rester optimistes

Edito-Vœux / Edito and wishes 2021

On behalf of the Mayor

Our life is normally punctuated by specific events in the year that allow us to find reference points.
However, we have to admit that this year 2020 is a complete break with what we have been experiencing for decades.
An unprecedented health crisis

  • Generating behavioural changes
  • Restricting individual freedoms
  • Significantly disrupting market concepts or
    business operations

At the end of this year, our economy is sluggish, our GDP has collapsed. The number of companies ceasing their activity is constantly increasing etc….

In the face of this situation, can we look to the future with serenity?

Yes I think so, because the inflection point is not very far away. In a few weeks, a few months at the most, thanks to standard precautions that we
all take and large-scale vaccination campaign, the crisis induced by COVID 19 will come to an end.
It may take more time, but the economic and social crisis that led to recession and bankruptcies will eventually fade away.

This is why we must be optimistic for 2021.

Our actions in 2021

Before specifying our actions in 2021, I would like to thank Mrs Françoise Porcheron and the members of her council for managing this health
crisis in the first months of 2020.
As far as the commune is concerned, without wanting to make a detailed inventory list, we will put in place communication tools (small newspaper, website, information boards).
In terms of investments; we will continue the renovation work of the church of Saint Hilaire, hoping for an inauguration in December 2021. We will begin burying power lines: rue de la Couture (with an expected completion date in April 2022) and will start transforming the old retirement home into a gîte / guesthouse.

Of course, particular attention will be paid to improving the quality of life of the commune’sinhabitants. (Shops –point of sale – café…)
In conclusion, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful year 2021.

Patrick DAUBISSE, Mayor
